With a muffled groan Lyre cracked an eye open at the offending shade that failed to keep the sun at bay and heaved an exhausted sigh while stiffly rubbing the sleep from her eyes. It had been another uneventful night at the shrine and while she knew she should be grateful to have such a peaceful time, she couldn't help it if she felt a bit bored at the same time. A peaceful shrine was a good one indeed, but she was going out of her mind with boredom, the people who came to worship or pray at the shrine rarely held an interesting conversation that lasted more than a few minutes. She was craving social interaction or even a little action to stave off the offending boredom that had fallen over her the past week, and when she had caught wind of a group of banshee that may be heading her way, she couldn't hide the overwhelming excitement that had bubbled up.
Banshee's were her least favorite fiend because they came along with bitter memories of one nearly sinking their long nails through her spine as a child, she probably hated them more than any other fiend. But the long days and nights of talking about uninteresting topics and doing absolutely nothing had her even excited for a little banshee fighting, but as several days passed she was slightly disappointed to find that the banshee's may have taken a sharp turn elsewhere.
Shuffling in her bed one teal orb peaking over at the alarm clock that read one in the afternoon and with a flick of her wrist, tossed the sea foam colored blankets from her and stepped onto the cold marble tile. The goosebumps ghosting across her skin and causing a shiver as she tossed open the dark shades allowing the afternoon light to filter in, but as she cracked the window open to get a feeling of the weather, Lyre couldn't help the slight disappointment, it was simply too chilly for any fresh breezes through her bedroom or the outfit she had hoped to wear today. Shifting through her closet and pulling out a ruffled skirt with midnight blue trim, a pair of black shorts to go under, some long black thigh high stockings, and an elbow sleeved long shirt with her wool jacket to match – she was ready to start her day off with the dreaded shower.
Her home wasn't very big, no bigger than a small apartment but it was hers and she loved it and the fact it resided in her beloved Shrine that she was sworn to protect. The entrance to her home came from one of the back doors in the shrine, leading into a small kitchen space that held minimal counter space for cooking and a small breakfast nook where she ate her meals. To the right was the living space which contained a loveseat couch with a decent sized TV on a stand, and a small book shelf beneath the largest window that showed the open field. On the left of the living space was a small bathroom, containing a conjoined tub and shower and a vanity that stretched from one door to the door leading to her bedroom. Her room wasn't anything fancy, if anything it was sort of bland and void of anything personal – containing nothing but her queen sized bed, and a desk scattered with music sheets and other things of particular interest to her.
With a quick shower, dressing in her chosen attire before deciding to leave her hair down rather than fuss with it any longer. Stupid hair. She grouched silently, trekking through her small home and shuffling through the things in her fridge before realizing that she had put off grocery shopping far too long, and now that the shrine was relatively peaceful and it was only early afternoon – now was as good as any to head into Olympus' Randoma district and do some much needed grocery shopping. So with a puff of her cheeks to show her displeasure, she kicked the fridge shut and stomped over to her boots, slipping them on quickly and grabbing her shoulder purse before locking the door to her small but cozy home and through the shrine.
“Lyre!”
Stopping short at the familiar and frequent visitor that often irked Lyre to no end with pointless and extremely boring topics, but with a soft exhale she shook herself off. Being so put off in the morning was just asking for a dreaded day, so with a few soft breaths and counting to ten in her head, she allowed a soft smile to grace her face as she turned to face one the elderly face of her most frequent visitor.
“It's so good to see you this afternoon Lana.”
The elderly women smiled, “We've been graced with such a peaceful week -are you going shopping?” Lana cut short, eyeing Lyre's appearance and purse strapped over her shoulder as Lyre smiled. “Even Shrine Guardians need to eat.”
The trip to Olympus was uninteresting besides trying to force Lana to understand that daylight didn't last forever and that she needed to be back before nightfall. Most the fiends came out at night and while they had been graced with such a peaceful week, she wasn't about to press her luck and leave the Shrine unguarded – after all, how awful of a shrine guardian would she look like if she skipped out on guarding the shrine? Pursing her lips into a thin line, she moved through the crowd of people, unsure of where she should head first but after catching the smell of fresh baked pastries and deciding after a rather embarrassing and not to mention loud growl of her stomach – eating was a good start. So with a specific destination in mind, she moved quickly through the crowd, clutching her purse and boots tacking softly against the sidewalk and to her favorite pastry cafe, the small bell above the door jingling as she made her way in. WORDS: 1062 || TAG/S: lyre <3 || NOTES: Nah it's all fine darling <3 and I assumed that they knew each other, and since Gen here is also a waiter :3 let's just say Aphrodite talked a lot to him so he knows XD |
[/i][/blockquote][/div] “Haha, well, you’re welcome.” [/b] There was this cheery background inside the Valiant Café. Looks like everyone woke up in time, the floors are all shiny, everything and almost all the ingredients set to place, not to mention, all waiters, waitresses and the employees have perfect attendance! This happens quite rare, and as the manager notices, he gives off a bright smile towards them, cheering them all a “Good luck”. Knowing the kind person, they’d probably get a raise. A rumor say that the manager works under a filthy rich god, or was contracted to one, so the expenses and all the damages done, even some extra or miscellaneous fees are fed up. Somehow, the employees can rather be considered as used to a spoiled background, but they never dared abuse the good of it. Genesis happens to be a multi – tasking person. He was glad that his goddess, the beautiful Aphrodite, allowed him to rest. To him, working at the Café was already content, and considered as a gesture form of break time. Yes, this familiar loves work, and so as the people around him. He just wanted to see them smile. Some of the people mistook him more of a human rather than a familiar, but being famed thanks to Aphrodite, they were all aware of whom he serves. Usually, the people would always greet him back, the same things he do. Who would ever imagine that he’s a waiter, a police member and also a student at the same time? If one would look at it, there was no more room left for space and sleep. Then again, nobody knows how this person does it. Slipping his hand to get a knife, looking at the large piece of cake, Genesis was tasked to carve miscellaneous on a devil’s food cake. It was iced with double chocolate, and even the employees themselves wanted to take a bite off it. Being loyal to his job, this black haired familiar smiled sheepishly and dared pointed the edge of the dangerous weapon to those fingers that wouldn’t resist the chocolate. The scene was so tempting but they have to hold on it. He was even talking on phone since he has to deal with other things, and then carve decorations. The employees can only say that he can split himself in to two or there are probably two brains inside his head, but he just ignored that factor. Right now, as he smiles and then holds his phone between his neck and the shoulder, he wipes clean his knife again and then washed it on the sink. He even had done it neatly with that kind of position, since his phone is very valuable. It served also like his PDA which everyone should have inside and outside Olympus. Meanwhile, now done with his chat, he slipped his phone back on his side pocket and then proceeded with the carving. Hmm, the client said that it should be related to flowers and things… He thought of having small trees but it was a rush order, and the fonda wasn’t really enough. With such small time and limited use of chocolate with accessories, he couldn’t picture or do things that he wanted to do. The Valiant Café isn’t just for show – the workers here are really working hard. He wanted to have the reputation of their café embed on this cake. He was curious if he should just reshape it again, but the notes say ‘no’. Pressing his hand to his chin for awhile, he was silent. He just wanted to do a specific design but how, with such minimal materials? Well, challenge accepted he said. “Hey Gen, you sure there? Do you need our help?”[/b] One of the waitresses said, as she presses her hands on her skirt, hoping that he would allow her to help. In return, the familiar just smiled and then said this. “Nah, you entertain the others. I can do this. Give me ten minutes.”[/b] Ten minutes. He did say ten minutes. He chuckled lightly seeing the confused girl with such a face, having a hard time believing that he’d be done for about ten minutes. He does have powers, and he is indeed intelligent. When the girl left, he started to do things on his ordinary manners, simplifying the design while avoiding bumping or ruining the devil food cake’s original shape and toppings. He was even whistling happily like he was just peeling candy. He learned how to work pretty fast thanks to Aphrodite. So far, she’s a stress in his life, but he did serve her because she was just kind, and he believed on her talents and orders no matter what. It was just as he says. Ten minutes and he had a miscellaneous designed fonda – devil food cake. He had it on his hands, carefully placing it inside the red box while he smiles. “Dear, will you deliver this now? I told you ten minutes is all I need.”[/b] There was no hindrance or spark on it, but just a normal asset while he watches them again get confused. He can hear their small whispers, but didn’t mind it. When they turned around, there was a slight pout. Moving to the cashier area, he muttered with a sigh. “Ah, if only the chocolate was so enough I have made it into a fountain…”[/b] Seriously, what was he saying? Sliding his fingers a little to pull his hair and tie it up on a ribbon, he looked at the fresh pastries. The coffee cups and also the condiments are neatly arranged it made him smile. When he tilts his head, he hears the ring of the bell. Oh, another customer. Even with some occupied seats, he can still hear the others. Maybe it was because he has been living so long he got used to the background? No one knows. Currently, his eyes set to this girl, which he knew was familiar. Genesis gave a small nod to himself, and wore a simple smile, disturbing her on purpose. His voice was not loud but normal, him standing on the cashier area. “Why hello, got a day – off?”[/b] He questioned. He knew she was a shrine maiden. Aphrodite did mention that Poseidon has this girl coming along, and she was human. How interesting.[/blockquote][/size][/div] Because you are nothing

It had been a while since she had last been here, being a guardian was time consuming and while most fiends did come out at night – most guardians were apprehensive to leave it even during the day for too long of a period. They even communicated with each other when they caught sight or smell of a fiend outside Olympus incase they were planning to venture to other shrine areas. It was a nice system, you contacted the other guardians when you saw anything suspicious heading their way, an honor system of sorts. Each guardian understood the responsibilities they carried and while some might not get along, they didn't want to make an enemy of someone who can give them a heads up to potential danger. But with everything relatively quiet, she hadn't heard much and when she did receive a call it had been about the banshee's and their direction toward her shrine – the only good conversation Lyre could say she really had all that week – she had taken notice that most fiends had been roaming those particular areas.
The sudden appearance and voice nearly had her jump from her skin, muscle memory and reflex nearly getting the better of her as she tensed stiffly. It had been far too long since she had been in such a crowded place, before the grace period of no fiends she had a relatively small time frame to leave the shrine and even then she had been afraid to leave. The fiends were acting weirdly lately and the week prior had been quite interesting with the amount of fiends roaming about, they all seemed to just be migrating though, or at least that's what she gathered from the conversation with the other guardians, so she hadn't gone for any groceries herself. Instead she had taken to ordering it and having it delivered during the day, with the fiends lurking just out of eye sight she was too afraid to leave the shrine unguarded for such a period of time. It seemed to be longer then she thought though because every muscle screamed to attack and it was only the fact that she knew she was safe in Olympus that she remained rooted to the spot, albeit tensely at first.
Placing a hand to her beating heart that pumped fiercely from the quiet scare, she smiled at the person before her. “Good gracious you nearly gave me a heart attack.” She knew only a bit about him, he worked here and was generally very polite and even an assistant to the very Aphrodite herself! A part of her was very curious what working with the God(dess) was like, to be able to be Poseidon's assistant would have been like a dream to her! Though Lyre wasn't going to complain, while working with Poseidon himself would be amazing, she did love her job as a shrine guardian – following in her mothers footsteps also gave her another sense of satisfaction.
“Shrine Guardians don't have the luxury of days off.” Poking her tongue out as a show of the false dissatisfaction she didn't feel before walking up to the cashier area and looking over the goodies. “We get grace periods where we're free to do as we please if it's been a safe week though. Are you working hard, as always?” She questioned, glancing at him with a small smile before resuming her ogling of all the goodies. It wasn't long until her stomach gave out an unsatisfied growl loud enough to have her cheeks flare an embarrassed pink as she pulled the purse from over her shoulder. “Could I get two french croissants? I seemed to have forgotten to get food this past week, hence the unexpected visit.” She smiled, eying the others and him as they all moved about. Genesis was quite tall compared to her, standing nearly over a head so that when she stood near him, she was forced to tilt her head up to look up at him. He had his hair neatly pulled back in the pretty ribbon she remembered seeing – he was neat as always, and polite. Lyre wondered if he ever got tired of being so polite to everyone, she knew she did – especially when she was as hungry as she was. To people she wasn't friends with, she was clipped and straight to the point until she got food in her stomach, and then she was back to her genuinely nice self. But she needed food, all the exercise and fighting she tended to do burned a lot off – she had a good metabolism and was able to keep her weight steady. Even if she did splurge occasionally on sweets. Something, she mused, That I might just do today. [/i][/blockquote][/div] A small Cheshire smile formed from his face. He was obviously amused with her.
A familiar who has been living for enough ages must have known that. Genesis was one of them. He got ‘immortal’ around his young years, probably will be stuck forever as a nineteen year – old male but he didn’t mind it. He would probably mature up to his twenties when he gets around his thousands. How old was he? He only remembered that it was in between five hundred to eight hundred, but of course, mouthing that out would be awkward. Humans and demigods knew of their existence. Familiars like him age like the deity gods and goddesses, thus they’re better being the assistants. He knew that because Aphrodite was sort of the same. As he reminisces back to the past, he recalled how many people have met him, and somehow knew him. However, there was a bitter part. Love life and stuff related to it made his life horrible, and even have been a ‘bad guy’ breaking women’s hearts. He only told himself that they don’t deserve him. This is the probable reason why Aphrodite took him in as her assistant: he was solid and hell, no one knows what he really was thinking. His smile was always polite and present, but has one tried digging up on his mind?
Back to reality, the black crow familiar gave a soft chuckle. As he places his side bangs at the back of his hair, he nodded and listened to her. She is human. Genesis is interested with such species wanting to know what they are capable of, and what not their abilities are. So far, he only knew bits of information of this girl. She’s a shrine maiden, and he wondered why Poseidon himself gave a contract with her. She must have turned immortal then, because humans and demigods contracted to the gods or goddesses were gifted with long life, or so, as he heard, until the death of the deity. It was pretty off for him. He knows deities never die, so why create such false information and rule? He shrugged the thought mentally and then returned to observing her.
His fingers slide to his pockets picking up some coins. There was other paper with receipts on the side, and some stack of ball pointed pens on a small mug. He took some time to close his eyes and count the cash on his hand, while pushing a button on the cash register. A click of a small chime was heard too, not surprising him as he watched it open before his eyes. He slid the coins carefully at the compartments next too, while he speaks soft. “Well, you have to get used to it then.” [/b] His answer was like a joke, but he didn’t mind it. He just wanted to make sure that she literally didn’t get a heart attack. It was a mean thing to think of as well. “With all the people here, having a heart attack wouldn’t help. Besides, I didn’t surprise you so much, yes?”[/b] He was always like that, sure of asking stuff before he goes on with another. Hearing her other response he nodded again once in a small manner. He started to tie his waiter – like ribbon on his collar properly while placing his tag on the side too. The black crow responded again sooner. “Wow, I’m glad that I’m not a shrine maiden. I wouldn’t like it in your shoes.”[/b] He took a glance at the shorter girl (because he was just tall) and then formed a small frown. “I’m glad you passed by here though. If you work yourself too hard you might have collapsed. As for me, yes. I can even work forever if I have to. It’s part of my life.”[/b] That frown faded and was replaced with another smile, but that’s because he was thoroughly concerned. Face it – humans are quite different from them. They all know that. Olympus itself gave the law of having all species and beings cooperate with each other, so this shouldn’t be that surprising. He never told this lady that he was kind of ‘immortal’ per se, but was careful of his words. It was not that he’s lying. He found it not necessary to speak of his own status. Aphrodite also said the same. Genesis bends over to the other side, getting her orders too. He grabbed up a thong which had a twister – like shape and then got the two croissants that she wanted. The other employees were busy fuzzing over the other client’s orders, exactly the one this male has prepared. He placed the pastry at the small, neat white plate while placing tissues at the side too, just in case it gets dirty. He placed them at the side too. “Well, here you go. It would be thirty blancs total.”[/b] He started off again and then asked. “Do you like to add something to it, like a beverage or some slices of cake?”[/b] He was talking about add – ons.[/blockquote][/size][/div] Because you are nothing

The cafe was generally busy but it seemed most customers that were planning to be here at this hour, already were so she felt no need to rush away from the cashier and the conversation, so other people could be served. The place was also really hospitable, most waiters and waitress' knew the customers that made frequent visits so when she came in, a few nodded their head, waved, or gave a polite hello. Lyre also spotted a few people she knew, from the shrine and not – the place was very popular and the service was always great. Unfortunately Lyre could never really picture herself working in a service such as this, she was patient yes, but not patient enough to deal with this day after day. The bustling of people, some nice and some cranky on a daily basis – it would make her patience wane to just about nothing over the years she worked here. Teal eyes glancing up at Genesis she wondered if the man ever tired of the people coming in here.
“I doubt you'd be a good shrine maiden though.” She pointed out with a teasing smile. “And it's not so bad. My mother did this for her entire life – well after she was old enough to form a contract, or so my father tells me. He says that she absolutely loved it and I can agree with her – while the lack of social life is a bit of a downer, the shrine is a peaceful place and right near the ocean!” Her eyes lit up and her back straightened just a bit at the mention of the ocean and one could see not only how loyal to Poseidon she was, but just how much she actually loved the ocean. “You should see it during the sunrise and sunset! It's such an amazing time, and I get such an amazing view daily. Plus, it's peaceful enough to play the cello without too much interruption, and some have even come to listen, which is nice. The exercise isn't so bad either.” She gave a short laugh, the exercise she got was fighting off fiends but, to her exercise was exercise.
Her father often talked about Lyre's mother during their visits together, he didn't have a contract with any deity and she wondered if her mother ever came across the fact that one day she would still be young and her husband would be old. The thought was foreign to her, watching the person you fell in love with and the person who eventually becomes your soulmate, grow old before your eyes. Wouldn't that be such a tragedy to watch them die? Lyre bit her lip as she thought about it, she wasn't sure she could handle watching the person she loved die and while her and her father talked about death often to not make it such a taboo subject. And instead to embrace that death is just another form of life, but the thought of one day seeing her own father die brought an empty ache to her chest. She didn't have a lot of family, and the closest to her was her father and she knew that when he went he would visit her mother but what about her? Lyre's most treasured time was when her father came to visit, when he was gone who would visit her?
Pulling back from her foreign thought process she looked up at Genesis as he expressed concern over her well being and gave a smile. Lyre wasn't sure if he actually meant it or if he was just being polite but the sentiment alone to even bring it up was nice enough. “I try my hardest to keep myself healthy.” As if proving a point she put her left hand to her chest and the other into the air like a form of scouts honor. “But sleeping schedules depend on the fiends. Most come out at night and leave during the day but some don't, so the ones that lurk around longer are the ones to blame for my poor sleeping schedule.” At the mention of working forever, she looked up at him curiously – eyes just a bit wider as she stared openly. “Do you ever get bored of it?” The question wasn't meant to come off as rude and she hoped it hadn't, blanching slightly at her own blunt question before rushing to correct herself. “I mean, not that working with Aphrodite would be boring, but everything else?” She gestured to the cafe. “Does it ever get.. monotonous? Or even slightly irritating?” Lyre wasn't sure if she was crossing the boundaries of polite conversation for their type of acquaintance and quickly looked down at her wallet as he brought her the food, requesting for a water and hoping she hadn't offended him as she fished out the extra blancs and handed it to him. WORDS: 914 || TAG/S: lyre <3 || NOTES: I’m srsly half asleep typing this (I just got home from school O_O;;) but I hope it works <3 Haha I still have finals tomorrow and yknow its super tiring but my brain isn’t tired posting, just my poor fingers lmao. Meh, don’t mind it, and I guess this works. XD He’s a yandere, deal with it Lyre, but he wouldn’t show much of it >w< as of now. |
[/i][/blockquote][/div] He had a slight serious look to that, his eyes looking at her, but his smile didn’t fade. It was not fake too but rather an expression saying that he’s fine and so should she. Just like he says, humans are interesting and there’s something on them. Lyre here is such an example. Poseidon personally made a contract with her so she can live longer but is she aware that living more than ordinary years is actually tiring and irritating? Genesis can feel that since he has lived for more than generations of the normal timeline. He didn’t mouth such thing feeling that he might offend her. In other words, his mouth opened to say a simple answer, “Well, I’m sorry then.” [/b] He was sorry that he surprised her. He was sorry because he will lose a job when she faints. Shrugging while that made a small gag, he got another smile on his face while he closes the cash registrar before he forgets of the money elsewhere. That is not a good sign to begin with. “You really like being a shrine maiden, don’t you? I bet it is fun as you say, but not my type. Maybe it’s true. I don’t fit in there as a shrine maiden or a shrine guardian.”[/b] He honestly responded and opened up to her again. She was the type that would tease him, but he would tease back with rather a cool fashion way. It wasn’t offensive but he admitted that he wouldn’t fit as one nor he wanted to be in one. Imagine a life being alone on the shrine and friends being all picky with stuff. It is annoying. This is one of his pasts that he wishes to erase fully. He was serious with it too. She seems to like the ocean so much. Was it because Poseidon ordered her, or was it because she liked it literally? Sometimes, guardians are pretty weird depending on the shrine deity that they are worshipping about. Gods and goddesses, they really have this different type of power such as adding charm and contracts with their so – called assistants, whether the race be Demigods, Familiars and Humans. They should be thankful that the deities didn’t ask for the almightly to have them live forever. The life of staying sucks in his dictionary. It also disturbs the balance of the species, if he thinks so. “The ocean is good, especially when Poseidon is in a good mood. I bet you feel so ever lucky because the god has made a contract with you. Good luck with that. As for your anti – social life, try to change that a bit. If you want, I can send the fiends away for you. It’s an easy task.”[/b] He also included a bit of his reaction with her being anti – social or if that’s what he names it on his own words. There’s only a few of beings living on Olympus who enjoyed being alone or was so used to independency they forgot about cooperating with others and focus on themselves. There are times that Aphrodite was like that too, whenever she’s upset and let it out on Eros. Too bad he has to witness them most of the time and get caught by purpose in the middle of the two deities. They were fun, he admits it. Proceeding with her health he did. He crossed his arms after taking her pay and then placed them on his small butler pocket, while his face focuses on staring at her eyes. He didn’t mind that lasting almost forever but he has to. It is a battle of sorts with resistance and unhealthy sleeping habits. He gave a small disagreeing movement of the head present before he speaks of these lines. “Mhm. Like I would believe that. Miss Lyre, don’t blame the fiends. It’s probably because of your paranoia that’s why you’re being ‘unhealthy’ mentally. That is what I mean.’[/b] Well, is it obvious now that he cares? Lyre may not be really a close friend to him, but sooner when they get to know together, he would. He had his senses feeling this along. “Here, you mean?”[/b] The question was tricky for an old Familiar like him. As he waited for some seconds to make himself present an answer, he responded this confidently. “Not really. In fact my life is fine. Like I say, I don’t mind working forever. I appreciate life this way. Besides, getting bored here won’t be a benefit. There’s something extraordinary everyday so you don’t get bored or monotonous around.”[/b] That is true. Everyday life has its significance whether it was good or bad news. He thought of it simple like that, and then proceeded to doing what he should do: place the pay on the registrar. Another click he did and then proceeded to placing the blancs before it goes to waste or bad hands. “I’m supposed to ask you that though. Being anti-social or busy kills one. Did you even try loosening up a bit?”[/b] He returned back his question to her, his elbows resting on the wooden table of the cashier.[/blockquote][/size][/div] Because you are nothing

Instead she tore her eyes away and down at the food before tearing a piece off and plopping into her mouth as he continued the conversation, chewing lightly and looking up at him. Her stomach relented its clawing at her insides as she swallowed and it realized that yes, finally, it was going to be fed. Swallowing another piece as she listened and hiding a smile behind her hand at the mention of him being a shrine maiden. “I do love it though.” She stated, after swallowing the piece of food. “I may not see Poseidon as much as you probably see Aphrodite, but being a shrine guardian is a great honor for me – and even I'm amazed he chose me to be the guardian.” Lyre replied honestly, her teal eyes falling onto the water bottle before she popped the cap and took a small sip and tore off another piece of bread to pop into her mouth.
Poseidon choosing her to be a shrine guardian had come off as more of a shock to her than anyone would have realized. Her reasoning for being a shrine guardian wasn't really known to many other than her father, considering he had been there for her decision. When Lyre was small, she had been wandering around outside of Olympus with her father who had been off in the distance, keeping a close eye on her but allowing her to roam as she pleased. One would have thought that would be bad parenting but there hadn't been any fiends in the field at the time and her father wanted to encourage her curious nature and allowed her the ability to roam as long as she promised to remain within eye sight. Lyre as a five year old, had obliged and remained within eyesight, but a river wasn't too far off she she had waddled her chubby little legs over to the river to splash and play in. It had seemed safe, the current was strong but not strong enough to knock her off her feet, but it had come up to her little waist and hindered her movement in more ways then she wouldn't have realized until later.
The banshee had burst out of the trees once the sun had set and the shadows of the thick area had fallen over her area of the river. The scream that she had wailed as a five year old haunted her father to this day, or so he told her. As the banshee threw itself toward Lyre, her five year old body fought to run against the current, her panic and fear making her sloppy as she tried to move away and toward her father who was running toward her in the distance. But he wouldn't have made it in time, the banshee was closer and with one outstretched hand had slashed Lyre's small back leaving deep gashes and caused her to trip and fall into the water. The blood running downstream as she burst through the surface in time to see the banshee lunging toward her, but like magic the water had lashed out and attacked the banshee. Throwing it back enough for her father to reach her and steal her from the rushing river that almost pulsed as if it was alive. Lyre's father had filled the banshee, and he ended up rushing her to the hospital where she received stitches and scars that remained until this day. Lyre had intended to guard the shrine with or without a contract until she either died or he formed a contract with someone else, a familiar maybe. Or at least that's what she would have thought, but when he posed it to her – she was simply astounded and had agreed without hesitation.
The poke at her social life brought her back from her reminiscing and she puffed her cheeks up a bit with a frown, but as he stated he could send the fiends away for her she was a bit surprised. The puffed cheeks and frown quickly dropping as she looked at him in slight bewilderment, floundering for a moment on what exactly to say to that. So instead she blurted the first thing that came to mind, with an embarrassing ting of pink blooming on her face. “You can do that?!” Covering her own mouth at the sudden outburst she looked at him, slightly amazed, and still a bit bewildered at why he would do such a thing for her – and her social life for that matter. “I uh, I just mean, well yeah I mean you can seriously do that? And sorta like why would you want to?” Lyre was unsure, and the expression was clearly on her face, with furrowed eyebrows and bright bewildered teal eyes. As soon as she realized she was still staring at him, and quite intently too, she quickly flushed another shade of pink and looked down at her food before ripping a large chunk off and stuffing it in her mouth. Lets not embarrass yourself any further, shall we?
Lyre huffed at her own thoughts, the tension easing from her body as Genesis didn't believe her about her sleeping schedule. Quite thankful she had swallowed her mouthful of bread because she looked back up at him, a playful look of horror on her mouth as her mouth dropped open. She gaped a few times before scrunching up her face in a pout. “I will admit to slight paranoia since it comes with the job,” She pointed at him, the pout still on her face. “But I don't use it as an excuse not to sleep, it's hard to keep the dark rings away from under my eyes, and I try very hard.” She playfully exclaimed before crossing her arms over her chest, still pouting. “Besides I got up like, almost an hour ago – I do try to get sleep!” She pouted for a bit longer, stuffing another thing of bread in her mouth followed by a sip of water as she re-leaned back against the wooden table.
Lyre was a little surprised to find that he didn't get bored, but then again they were two different people and while she may be fit for a guardian and he may not – it went both ways. He was fit for this and he enjoyed it and that was good to hear, after all hating something you did made everyday feel like a living hell. It was good to enjoy what you did, Lyre struggled for a while in her pre-teens on what exactly she wanted to do – after all she had never actually planned to follow in her mothers footsteps as a guardian. Originally she had learned the cello to become a musician and figured that was what she would do the rest of her life. Over time she changed and decided to follow the footsteps left behind, it felt right and almost like stepping into what she longed for without realizing it. But as he turned the question back at her, she tilted her head to look up at him curiously. “Loosen up? Like how, going out more or taking my job a little less serious?” She was genuinely curious as she looked up at him, her hands wrapping around the top of her water bottle to keep her hands occupied. WORDS: 1241 || TAG/S: lyre <3 || NOTES: Thanks <3 I am glad that my finals will be over soon though >w<b and nah I confirmed it, Cloudy told me its fine. She’s playing Poseidon anyway, and here’s a post for ya <3 hope it suits you. I love how you post >.< I’m like “wow effin long wonderful post yea!”~ |
[/i][/blockquote][/div] He was pretty sure of telling her that he’s serious when it comes to killing. His sudden apology earlier made her have a sudden reaction but she didn’t really mind such thing, right? Genesis here was pretty honest at a sort, simply because he has to be. While he focuses on his job, his duty as a waiter also covers the benefits of his customers. The Valiant Café, like was told earlier, wasn’t for show only but for the highest quality. The manager here happened to be contracted to a god whose name shant be known for now, or sooner. He can almost smile back at her reaction again, but that would be a bit rude. Instead of forwarding to that, thinking that she’s a human and that she matters most important to other beings, he listened back at her answer. Well, everyone here has their own opinions and this is one. Lyre was pretty optimistic, or so, self answering and he didn’t mind. Such beings are meant to be amusing as they say. The black crow didn’t mouth more to that and gave a small nod. She seems to be enjoying her job. Good for her.
It didn’t mean though that he never enjoyed his job. He was always carefree and pretty good with things like this. He didn’t mind how life is unfair, as long as he has the chance to deal with it. If it’s a last man standing phase, then that’s where he should take some action. Opening his mouth to respond to the shorter female, watching her eat, he fixed his eyes to her only. The customers were at peace, and it seems that the employees and others are not bothering him. Probably because he’s a head waiter, or maybe it’s also because he’s freaking old? He didn’t ask for a reason anymore. ”There must be something in you then. I have seen Poseidon once. He’s not old as you seem to picture, if that’s what the image is projecting in your mind.’ [/b] Seriously, he wanted to chuckle to those that says that he’s old or macho in a fact. Genesis here has seen Poseidon once while Aphrodite was ranting at him. The other assistants? He doesn’t know. In fact Poseidon doesn’t even resemble a god. He wanted to say that but it would be pretty rude. As for Zeus and Hades, he hasn’t seen them on person, but the odds say that they rarely show themselves because of ‘business’. Speaking of which, he did wanted to see Poseidon’s brothers even once. While he spaced out mentally, he thought of even asking them. Wow, he is a familiar but he has the guts to speak in front of a god or a goddess. It may be because he was used to Aphrodite, or how many times she talked to him like one of their kind. He smiled to that too. He remembered all the women that tried to get him, but he only said ‘yes’ to the goddess of love and beauty, not for the power, but for her attitude and her persona. Even if she has some ‘affair’ with Eros or some other guy, he doesn’t care. He just wanted her to be happy. Since then, Aphrodite was one of his obligations even if she’s strong enough to handle herself physically and mentally. At least he helps her like others should do. About the fiends, she asks? Yes, he was serious. With that normal look on his face, he answered her. “Yes. Everyone hates fiends.”[/b] His gentle smile had a small hint of an eerie aura, displaying somehow his hate for fiends. Damn those creatures. There was a story of why he despised each and every one of them, but that was kept in the past where he had one of his girlfriends out on a walk, and interrupted them. He was still a younger looking Genesis that time, but had been tad weaker due to the age. Because of that, he didn’t protect her fully, hence a problematic case. He erased those feelings and then proceeded on explaining it to the woman in front of him, eating the croissant normally. No one will mind anyway. It was just them. “Let’s just say, I’m not and ordinary person. As for the reason besides that they are annoying, they also cause a lot of trouble here in Olympus. I don’t even know why they existed.”[/b] To be honest he once asked that to Aphrodite or any deity that he is certainly in good terms with, but he got the same answer. They don’t know. Maybe Zeus knows? He just wanted to get answers. He blinked his eyes, a bit appalled with the way she pointed at him. He wanted to touch her finger to that, but seeing her adorable refrains him from doing so. Letting her finish her small ‘speech’ he gave a small ‘tsk’ and then shook his head in one manner. There, he gave her another look with a small frown. “Hey now, Lyre. You should be thankful that you’re okay. Others are worrying about you. Face it that you care less about sleeps, but don’t make an excuse for those who are being paranoid due to your habit.”[/b] To be honest he wasn’t still convinced of her ‘trying’ to sleep. Anyone can get a good sleep. Why can he say this? It’s because deities sleep, demigods sleep, familiars like him sleep and so as humans who needs more of the sleep. Let’s say that she doesn’t slack, but still her health matters. He didn’t mind about that much, but he feels pity for those who have known her. Now, for another straight reply, Genesis crossed his arms to match with her argument. “Then try harder, idiot.”[/b] He had a small annoyed tone partnered to it too, but he wasn’t really disturbed to that, or considered angry on sorts. If this crow was ever angry… then pray next. Good thing that his mood didn’t swing to another side of him this instant. As if it would be just light for them to handle… and he didn’t want that. He immediately answered to her next the moment she asks him back. He sighed a little before he loosens up himself and then looked at her again. “Balance your attitude and your time.”[/b] He said that. Genesis actually meant of her being loose because she wasn’t balance. Look at her – she keeps herself occupied at the shrine being a typical loner but then also has less social life. Wouldn’t that be really sad? He doesn’t even know why he cares about such thing. An elder familiar like him has encountered those things in different sorts and situations, but it was just in his senses to at least share a bit of information to her. That way, she can learn. ”Even if you’re Poseidon’s shrine maiden, you don’t have to guard the place all the time. You can go out but know your limits. Have a sort of life and enjoy living. You will grow old and die young if you keep this up, and when you do these things, you’ll realize that I am right.”[/b] He finalized that with a smile before he waves a bit and turns back to see if the other pastries at the oven are already cooked. He will come back to see Lyre after that again.[/blockquote][/size][/div] Because you are nothing

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true][atrb=style, width:400px; background-color:#f5f5f5; border:1px solid #efefef, bTable][style=border:1px solid #e9e9e9; background-color:#f0f0f0; font-size:10px; font-family:arial; letter-spacing:1px; color:#858585; text-align:justify; padding:20px; margin-bottom:8px]As Genesis pointed out about Poseidon's appearance, Lyre gazed down at the water bottle in thought. Honestly, she never really had a face to the name, whenever she really tried to conjure any image up it was either faceless or just a blurry image. Any other time her thoughts wandered to the sea god, she always just pictured the sea. Poseidon was the essence of the sea, his moods reflected on its nature and whether or not it was destructive or calm. To her, he was the sea and that's all she ever really pictured when it came to him. Did that make her a bad follower? To just picture Poseidon as the sea simply because he controlled over it? Lyre frowned at her thoughts and would have rubbed her head in confusion had they not been covered in the sticky bread of the croissant.
Speaking of fiends and she pulled herself away from the lingering thoughts to ponder another time. The eerie smile he had after stating that yes, everyone hated fiends had her eyebrows raise slightly in surprise and Lyre wondered if Genesis had a personal reason for hating them – or just did like most who didn't travel outside Olympus to encounter them. And no, she inwardly agreed with a nod of her head to herself, Genesis was indeed not an ordinary person. He was much to polite and kind for that, but more than that – something just was off like it was on the tip of her tongue but she couldn't quite place it but instead shrugged to herself. But as he spoke of how no one knows why fiends exist she looked up at him, open and curious with her wide teal eyes. “I wonder who created them, then. Or do you think they just emerged from the ground, kinda like the earth made it or something?” It was far fetched but Lyre couldn't help the slightly childish nature to express the idea of that since it suddenly came to mind.
Lyre had almost laughed, almost. Genesis had been slightly taken aback by her pointing at him and it showed. He had blinked and stared almost cross-eyed at her pointer finger and it took a lot in her to keep the pout on her face as her lips wanted so badly to twitch up into a smile and burst out in giggles. His speech though had the urge to laugh run dry and her face fell slightly at the truth in his words, and she looked down and away from him – almost in shame. Honestly, she hadn't given much thought about how other people reacted to her being a guardian. Her father had taken it well and had a lot of faith in her ability, but then again he had been married to a guardian and knew of what it was and to have faith in the person and their ability. Of course he worried, so why didn't she expect everyone else to be worried as well? The conversations of people asking if she was doing okay flooded back and she frowned, clenching the water bottle tightly as she bit her lip and furrowed her eyebrows. The signs were all there, so why didn't she see the concern on everyone's faces when they asked about her well being? Lyre honestly thought it was just polite conversation at the time.. just like how she would ask them in return how they were doing – she hadn't seen much of a difference. She could say nothing to the truth in his words so remained silently, picking off another piece of croissant and stuffing it in her mouth to chew slowly.
But when he suddenly spoke to try harder idiot she choked on the food and patted her chest and swallowed the remaining before looking up at Genesis with wide surprised eyes, he had even sounded slightly annoyed at her! After a few seconds, she let her cheeks puff up in a defiant sort of pout but said nothing in return to it. Honestly she had never really heard him say anything like that to anyone, she wasn't around that often so maybe he did – but the times she was around he always just seemed polite. In some part of her mind she found it amusing and another part of her felt bad and guilty, while a smaller part felt defiant but before she could even think of a coherent reply he was speaking sagely again.
Balance my attitude and my time? Lyre was still slightly puzzled, if the furrowing of her eyebrows indicated anything. Am I bipolar? A small stab of panic raced through her as a small voice whispered. What if I am bipolar? But after sorting through her thoughts and a small outward shake of her head that probably confused others. No, she wasn't bipolar! Expressive? Yes, definitely – she knew that just by watching herself in the mirror when she was on the phone. Her expressions were without thinking and only when she had watched herself she saw how amusing she probably looked to others. Before she could really question him to elaborate further, Because I'm slow, apparently. He was giving her advice that had her mouth snap shut, they were wise words for someone who looked so young. Maybe he had seen it before or heard of it before, but that type of advice came from experience. Maybe he had seen it happen rather than experience I first hand? Lyre sighed, the point wasn't to try and figure out where he got the advice but to ponder on what it meant instead. So when he waved his hand to go about his business again, she pulled the rest of her croissant and water bottle with her and wandered over to a seat to think about what he said.
Lyre honestly didn't know much about being a shrine guardian other than the fact you made a contract and guarded the shrine with your life. It wasn't like the contract was written in ink and gave her a list of duties that she was to go about, or days off when she could simply roam free. The only real link she had to being a shrine guardian had been her mother who had passed away at a young age, and whenever she had questioned her father on the fact he replied as honestly as he could. No, he didn't know how her mother did it, other than she had free time for many people unless she would say fiends were about. But aren't they always up and about? Shrines are outside of Olympus and they wander around so how? She sighed, losing interest in her croissant but finishing it off anyway to please her stomach. Others were worried about her, she was questioned about her health now. Lyre honestly felt guilty now, but she really didn't know when was a good time and when wasn't. No fine ink, remember? And besides, didn't these things come with experience? The know hows and realizing fiend patterns and the like? Lyre sighed and crumbled up napkin she had. I may be an over dedicated shrine guardian, but I'm a poor friend it seems. [/style][style=width:100px; height:100px; border:1px solid #b7b7b7; background-color:#f5f5f5; float:left; padding:2px; margin:2px][/style][style=border:1px solid #e9e9e9; width:250; height:94px; background-color:#e9e9e9; font-size:9px; font-family:bookman; letter-spacing:3px; color:#707070; text-align:right; float:left; padding:5px; margin:2px; overflow:auto] words: 1228 tags: Genesis notes: Uwah! [/i][/blockquote][/div] Seeing the look on her face and how she responds proves it that he makes some point. He didn’t speak to that further anymore, for it was not that necessary too. The crow can only judge based on his eyes and his personal observation, and he read well with the shrine guardian. She may be contracted to Poseidon but it doesn’t mean that he has to respect that fully. Just like how he talks to Aphrodite, not even calling her ‘lady’, ‘mistress’ or anything, unless if Vanyel Crus (Eros) appears out of nowhere to drop by and chat, he had a flat view of anyone. He respects himself, respects the latter and of course approves of being balanced. This type of person is rarely found on centuries, or such thing, but he has to keep up with it. Even his goddess approves of his attitude, so no wonder he lasted longer than the rest.
Genesis didn’t like to take back his words. Like he says, he IS an experienced man. Not only that he’s an old person, but he is also one that has been living for ‘survival’. Yes – survival he is living through, not only because he’s racing himself to kill fiends but he is appointed as his Goddess’ guardian or special assistant. Being like that made him proud of himself, or at least he was proud of himself. He didn’t mouth such things anymore for he knew that it wasn’t really necessary. The only thing that made him feel uncomfortable was others who speak of nonsense; he would be irritated much than how he would be annoyed with single pieces of cake placed to waste. Dedicated to his work, and specifically, to his current lifestyle, he has learned how to be very observant and keen with things. The black haired crow sighed inward and not pretty obvious, while he nods to the woman. She seems like she’s not being confident with herself though her words were very sure. The raise of tone, her actions and the latter doesn’t determine that she’s pretty serious with what she’s saying. How can this familiar point that out? Easy – she’s not honest to herself.
If she ever was, then she’d be notice how a horrible girl she is. He didn’t have to say that offensive but a woman deserves rights to have their free time. He knew that not by chance but how he sees women. On his past life, the women and the girls with different ages were normally carefree, and so very full of themselves. The modern society of females living in Olympus is now balanced. They can do guys’ jobs easily not because they are some deity, a demigod or probably a familiar but there’s this prowess on each kind. Genesis himself doesn’t know where the energy came from, or where was the determination of the rest. As a guy, he can say that women are extraordinary species, or kinds. He didn’t say that again in public because he would sound pretty awkward to the point that the employees might ask him if he’s having a date with Lyre.
Yes, those fickle minds were triggering the others. The familiar would only reply back that he’s not hitting on her, or being all friendly, or such a ‘Casanova’. It was not his fault that he’s polite and attracting attention, but it’s his true self. Being violent and the likes of his weird interests is the other side of him that he doesn’t often show, but for those that got through him as a close friend or a trustworthy ally, then you have the point. Those lucky people are only a number, and they would even be better if they just keep their mouths shut. He is not hiding secrets, but he’s just an old familiar who wanted to live a peaceful life. This is his daily peaceful life… if no one disturbs it.
Waiting for the other pastries to be done, while looking at the timer, he sighs another and folded his arms. He was in charge of baking as well, and he mumbled to himself that the others should be doing this, but because he is in a good mood he preferred not to. He was too ‘kind’ he didn’t like to open his mouth and waste his voice just to tell that they should be taking out the delights. Watching the oven heat up, his slightly doll raven eyes took a narrow look at the setting of the device. He stared at space while he thinks of the fiends that Lyre did mention. He knew little of their origin and cares less because they’re disgusting. Even those so – called elementals and lamya which looked a bit human to the appearance was even disgusting for him. Banshees were the worst, but the furies were his major hate. Those screeches and sounds were so disturbing he wanted to cut their heads with the use of his fists.
Finally, the timer ticked. It was time for him to take out the delicious and scrumptious – looking goodies. The aroma of muffins and round shaped pastry was spread throughout when he carefully opened the oven, pulling them out and then set them to the large kitchen table. There, he made his voice clear. “These babies are finished. Better wrap them up, okay?” [/b] His tone was not demanding but more of a brother – type of order, but it wasn’t that ridiculous. When he heard an ‘ok’ from the rushing crew and those that were also serving, he smiled and waved off, signing them to get back to work again. He was glad that he had the ‘position’ to demand everyone in just a flash, even if he wasn’t really the head waiter or butler. Moving on, he went back and saw the lone girl sitting on a table. He opened the small door so he can get through and followed suite with where she is sitting at. He stood at the side, not being rude just to sit in front of her and eventually look at her, like they’re too close. Genesis here knows his limits, which is why he is very careful with things. Soon when he reached there, he spoke. “Enjoying the food? I hope so.”[/b] He spoke that with good attitude and a warm smile again, hopefully not disturbing the female. “I just took out the other pastries. They allowed me to speak with you or at least see you around.”[/b] He added that too, telling her that it’s fine. Well, waiters are supposed to serve customers, but he insisted this. “So, have you thought of what I have said then?”[/b] He didn’t raise a brow or his voice while he asks that. He wanted to make sure she understood what he meant by that look on his eyes and also his clarifications with his words. He did his best not to make it pretty offensive but all he speaks at the moment is the truth. If it annoyed her, then sorry for her… that is all what he can say and shrug a bit to it.[/blockquote][/size][/div] Because you are nothing
